Staying at the Farm: Inside the Lavender Waves Farm Suite

Inside the Lavender Waves Farm Suite kitchen

People ask us what it's like to stay here, so here it is, plainly. The Farm Suite is the only place to stay on the farm — a second-floor suite with views over the lavender field, above the barn and looking out across the whole circular field. We run it through Airbnb, where we're a Superhost stay rated 4.99 out of 5 from more than 370 reviews. This post is our own walk-through of the space, so you know exactly what you're booking.

Luxuriously rustic — and built from the farm itself

We call the suite luxuriously rustic, and we mean both halves. The woodwork is reclaimed wood from a 150-year-old silo, set against rustic stone tile and reclaimed beams across the ceiling. The four-post king bed is built from that same reclaimed wood. The open kitchen and living room share the field view, so the lavender is in front of you whether you're cooking breakfast or sitting down at the end of the day. A queen futon in the living area sleeps two more, so the suite takes four guests in total.

The bathroom gets its own paragraph

Guests write about the bathroom in their reviews more than anything else in the suite, so we'll describe it the way it is. The shower runs rainfall, waterfall, and massage jets. The sinks are amethyst geode sinks from Estonia, set into imported Italian granite. It is not a standard hotel bathroom, and it wasn't meant to be.

The whole farm is yours

Because the suite is the only rental on the farm, a stay here isn't a room in a building full of other guests. You have access to the entire farm during your stay, including personal use of our custom-built gazebo out in the field. Mornings and evenings, when the day visitors and event crowds aren't here, the farm is quiet in a way that's hard to find this close to the coast.

Dinner in the suite: the Gourmet Lavender Culinary Experience

One thing most people don't know until they stay: suite guests can book a private dinner cooked right in the suite's kitchen. Chef Lauren prepares a multi-course, lavender-inspired meal for one to four guests — local ingredients, lavender harvested here on the farm, and two to three hours at your own table. Three courses are $150 per person and include one cocktail each; five courses are $200 per person with two cocktails each, and the five-course dinner is offered Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. It's available only to Farm Suite guests and depends on Chef Lauren's availability, so ask when you book your stay. The full details are on our Culinary Experience page.

Good to know before you book

That's the stay, as honestly as we can put it. If it sounds like your kind of trip, see The Farm Suite page for more, or go straight to our Airbnb listing to check your dates.
